That was some REALLY good tennis yesterday. We knew Cupertino was going to be tough and they certainly were, but you know what? so were WE!!
Cookie and Steve had a great close match!! Great hands, smart placement and just steady, consistent tennis. Never giving up and just out there winning one point at a time. They out played their opponents 4 and 4. It was impressive.
Doug and Marlene gave us a little more drama. They were down 0/3 out of the gate and then down 1-4 (I think) when they started to climb back. They played another REALLY tough team and it was hard to get the upper hand. They lost the first set 4/6 but the momentum was shifting. With strong resolve they went back out and took the second set 6-1 and then played a nail biter 10pt tiebreaker to dig out the WIN!! Really solid tennis. Marlene is just a steady, beautiful player with great serves, serve returns and solid volleys. Doug added the 'X' factor with that amazing top-spin and his magic ball shots. Super hero tennis (let's get that guy a cape)-very fun to watch.

Neil and Susan also gave us some dreama to watch. They narrowly lost the ast set 4-6 and then fought really hard to win the second set 7-5. The 10pt tie-breaker had moments when it shifted up and down and then we were at 7-7, then 8-8, I think.... finally a loss 8-10. WOW!! So close. A hard fought match and nothing to apologise for there! Great tennis.
Now on to the after party. Spectators Janie, Bob and Charles all joined us as we went off to BJ's for dinner. Great food, fun and friends. What a good day of tennis and trouble!! Let's do it again soon - in fact - let's do it AGAIN next Saturday at 6.00pm at Cupertino!
