Our Pirate Wenches before.......

After... winning the party!

AAAARRRGGGHHH!

Courtside Wins!!

It just wasn't us unfortunately........

Courtside A won yesterday which is no big surprise. They have a tough roster but our brave BlueBeerd's got out there and made them sweat a little and work for it. It may be because I was on the court this time, but it felt like our underdogs were really showing some fighting spirit out there. I felt the energy and I was so proud of our players who were willing to give it their all regardless of it being a fellow Courtside team, which can be uncomfortable for some.

Mark and Kathy

bravely took on #1 team - someone had to do it. We played CT Harris (yes, the talented son of Sandy and Mary Harris) and Sherri Pollack and we had a really fun match. Mark was on fire and played REALLY well. He brought his A game. I played tough as well, at the top of my game (for a one legged Pirate). ARRRGH! We had them on the ropes with several deuce games, and it was really an exciting "crowd pleasing" match, so I guess that’s a good loss (if there is such a thing).

Dean and Sonja

were in #2 and our two courts were tracking together for most of both of our matches. They started off each set with an early win and it was 2/1 - 2/2 and then the opponents would get a lead going. Great points against a seasoned team and it looked like they were really having a good ..time as well.

Irma and Larry

were SOOOO close. They played in #3 and were up in both sets but closed out at a loss - 4/6 and 5/7. I really thought we might pull out that court. They fought hard and were the last off the court, still pumped up from the battle.

HEY, we did WIN the party. In fact, the other team said they wanted us to host the next match too. I don't think so....but the bar has been set for sure. Especially if you like chicken and sausages, this was the place to be. Sonja brought hot wings, Dean brought pirate sausages and a special grog, and Mike, filling in the gaps for me, brought chicken and sausages.....huungh? Well that’s what he felt like cooking and since I can't cook, we get what we get. We will be eating leftover chicken and sausages for a month Irma and Larry practically single handedly hosted, generously bringing 3 bottles of wine, a fabulous dessert and cheese platter. Our Blue knows how to party. Janie our WebWench was there to help us warm up and document the event for our webpage. Thank you Janie for setting our Pirate table and being there to cheer before your match. I hope you won! Ali was also there cheering us on - thank you Ali for the team support! We needed it out there.
