Le Blue Beer'd v Cupertino

Kicked in the Bootey Again

Our Pirates were out late on Monday night at Cupertino ready to pull out a win and get back in the game. We were sooo close but fell 1 and 2. Arrrrgh. These away matches are not going our way. On a positive note, Bruce and Amanda handled their opponents on court 2 with skill and finesse. They were under control the entire match and we had things well in hand. Great job and it was nice to see a big ole smile on their faces. Irma and Martin had a match that zigged and zagged back and forth with some great points and they covered a lot of court. I thought they were going to pull it off but then a key serve break and momentum shift, and it slipped through their fingers. A disappointed duo, they dropped the second set as well. So frustrating. They really wanted a win and Martin was a great sport coming out at all since this was such a late match and he and Amanda were leaving for the airport at 5:00 the next morning. Thanks for being a trooper! Sandy and Diane had a rough start in the first set and they went down. But, not to stay down they turned it on in the second set with a 6/4 win! The momentum had shifted and we felt good about our full third. And it came down to THIS MATCH for our WIN. – No Pirate Pressure right? With the other two courts on the sidelines and Janie and I as well, we watched with hopes as Sandy and Diane played. We got a little tight, the opponents dug in and unfortunately it was not out day. We fell in the third. So SAD…. So the good news is got one court. And, we expected a tough fight, but we were IN IT. We were not blown off the court and we can take these guys next time and we WILL, on our terms and our turf.
